Success Story: Sean Bussiere

Sean was new to music management, when he secured a showcase spot for his artist Kuzi Cee at Reeperbahn. Unsure of what a showcase festival was and curious as to how to approach networking events, he decided to apply for and was accepted to the MMF Canada Germany Export Mission. What he didn’t see at the time was the role that MMF would play in the overall success of that trip.

Since becoming an MMF Canada member in February 2023, and joining that mission, he and his business partner Nick, have reached the following milestones →

  • Welcomed two new artists onto the Halftime Management roster

  • Partnered with ArtHaus Management

  • Opened Toronto Management Office

  • Garnered international publishing deals and showcases in the UK, Germany, Canada, and USA

  • Connected artists with international distributors and record labels.

  • Halftime’s Artists have performed with G-Easy, Nelly, T.i, Mario, Muni Long, Ashanti, + more

  • Booked a 2026 international tour off the connections Halftime made through export missions

Sean says the Export Missions offered him powerful networking opportunities, and the chance for frequent interactions with future business connections. While many of the relationships did not have an immediate “ROI” for Sean, he has built lifelong friends and colleagues. This, he says, has significantly expanded his reach as a Canadian artist manager.

As he continued on his professional development journey, Sean found that working with a new artists required complex planning, vision, organization, and execution. Organizing international strategies seemed impossible when he didn’t have the right connections yet.

One of the biggest challenges that Sean faced in his management career was navigating all of the different aspects of the music business while tailoring each approach to the specific needs of each artist. He said that MMF Canada provided the support he needed to grow.

MMF provides a centralised network that fosters exploration, career development, and most importantly, mentorship for on the ground networking and opportunities. MMF’s hands on approach to education is global and crucially important to career development as an artist manager. MMF is one of the few resources that focus’ directly on fostering the development of Artist managers, and for that, I am truly grateful.
