Success Story: Jacquie Daniels

As a self-managed artist, Jacquie wore all the hats. Working as her own manager, grant writer, tour booker, and marketer. All while trying to keep the creative spark alive as an artist. As an Métis woman in outlaw country, Jacquie often felt like she was carving a path where there was no trail.

MMF Canada selected Jacquie for its BESPOKE Mentorship Program and UK Export Mission. These opportunities provided her with the tools she needed to level up.

Since becoming an MMF Canada member in October 2024, she has reached the following milestones →

  • Mentored by Laurie Brown of Porch Swing, shaping the creative direction of her Canada Council for the Arts–funded debut album Girls Can Be Cowboys Too

  • Connected with many top industry leaders, such as representatives from ATC Live, State51 Music Group, Downtown Music Services, and Couteau Music/Genison

  • Linked up with Grammy-nominated producer Karen Kosowski to co-write

  • Won Songwriter of the Year at the 2024 Josie Awards

  • Received six 2025 Josie Award nominations, including Outlaw Artist of the Year, Songwriter Achievement, and Song of the Year

  • Reached #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown with Small Town Beauty Queen

  • Landed on Apple Music Indigenous playlists and SiriusXM Indigiverse

  • Performed at top-tier events like the CCMA Country Crawl, Canadian Rodeo Finals Week, and The Bluebird Café

In the future, after her completion of the CMI Artist Entrepreneur Program, Jacquie will be planning a UK tour with support from the international connections she has made so far.

To [MMF Canada], I owe much of my confidence as an artist. Sometimes all it takes is one person to believe in you and they did. That belief made all the difference... there were moments I questioned if I was doing things “right,” or if I even belonged in rooms that weren’t made for artists like me. MMF Canada changed that. They gave me a seat at the table and more importantly, reminded me that I deserved to be there…

Beyond the programs, MMF Canada gave me a sense of belonging and belief. They recognized the work I was putting in and elevated it. Their support enhanced my resume, expanded my network, and even strengthened my social media presence by giving me meaningful experiences to share with my growing audience.
