2024 UK Export Mission Recap
SUMMARY
The MMF Canada team brought 15 delegates to the United Kingdom for another export mission to make new connections overseas. The mission consisted of a series of conference panels, events and receptions in Wrexham, London, and Brighton from May 9 - 18, 2024. 1. Mission Activities at FOCUS Wales:
MMF Canada and MMF UK co-presented a managers panel with UK and Canadian managers speaking: Stu Anderson from Birthday Cake and Kate Kurdyak (self-managed band named Vox Rea) represented Canada.
MMF Canada and MMF UK co-presented a managers workshop where UK and Canadian managers got to take some time to chat and share knowledge and build relationships.
2. Mission Activities in London:
* Held in partnership with the High Commission of Canada in the UK and the Trade Commissioner Service *
A delegation of 15 Canadian music managers and self-managed artists took part in curated business meetings and round tables with 24 UK industry folks in Canada House in Trafalgar Square. This included remarks by Allison Goodings, Trade Commissioner, Amie Therrien, Executive Director of MMF Canada, and The Honourable Ralph Goodale, High Commissioner for Canada in the United Kingdom. Delegates also had the opportunity to attend a reception at the Quebec Government Office in London.
Some of our delegates and other MMF members had bands showcasing at an event hosted by CIMA in London, including but not limited to, Jake Vaadeland & The Sturgeon River Boys (managed by Jeremy Johnson - Johnson Talent Management), Aysanabee (managed by Jenn Sookdeo, SOOKS Productions), and Vox Rea (self-managed by Kate Kurdyak).
3. Mission Activities at The Great Escape:
We co-hosted the International Managers brunch with MMF UK and AAM (Australia) bringing together managers and industry from across the world.
