The event will include a fireside chat with Mauricio Ruiz, the visionary founder of The Manager’s Playbook (TMP) and an award-winning music manager. Hosted by MMF Canada board chair and co-founder of Tiny Kingdom Music, Savannah Wellman.

Followed by a managers mixer, you’ll be able to connect with other artists, managers, and music industry professionals based in the Vancouver area or in town for the JUNO Awards.

Savannah Wellman

Savannah is a co-founder of Tiny Kingdom Music, a record label and artist management company based in Vancouver, BC, representing artists including Skye Wallace and Ben Rogers. Her 15+ years in the music industry started with a BFA in music performance, and developed at Music BC where she was the project manager for artist development initiatives including the PEAK Performance Project for 8 years. Her musical and industry knowledge have been called upon as a juror for the JUNO Awards, Prism Prize, SOCAN Songwriting Prize, FACTOR, and was selected as a participant in the 2020 Keychange initiative program. Apply now to be part of our next MMF Canada Export Mission in Los Angeles on February 3 to 7, 2025!

This opportunity is for managers and self-managed artists and is a SYNC-FOCUSED mission with an emphasis on connecting with professionals from the film, tv, commercial, and gaming industries who are looking for music.

Schedule:
Mon Feb 3
- Evening - Group Meetup/Dinner (Optional - at own cost)
Tue Feb 4 / Wed Feb 5 / Thu Feb 6 - Attend Sync Summit (activities all day plus evening events)
Fri Feb 7 - Recover & Travel Home

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • You must be a voting MMF Canada member. Not yet a member? Click here to join MMF Canada.

  • You must be a registered business (i.e. have a provincial or federal Business Number or Corporation Number)

  • Applicants must be Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and you must be working for a Canadian company, or for yourself.

    FUNDING INFORMATION:

  • MMF Canada Mission delegates will be eligible to receive:

    • 50% of their flight costs reimbursed (direct route economy flights only)

    • $300 CAD per day for meals, accommodations, and incidentals

    • Sync Summit registration

  • Eligible dates for per diems are Sunday, February 2 to Saturday, February 8, 2025 - for a maximum of 7 days. Must be travelling to/from or attending mission events to claim per diem. Must attend activities on Feb 4, 5, and 6 to be eligible for funding.

  • Reimbursement will take place AFTER the event. Delegates must provide MMF Canada with an expense claim along with flight and accommodation receipts.

  • Delegates will also be required to complete a post-event survey, including details regarding the number of new foreign contacts gained throughout the mission, and will be required to report on current and future business developments coming from mission participation.

Join us and connect with managers, self-managed artists, and music industry professionals from across North America at this virtual networking event.

The session will kick off with a short presentation titled “Taking Control: How to Protect Your Music in the Age of AI” followed by networking time to chat with the presenters as well as the other attendees. The presentation will cover how creators can turn AI from a threat into an opportunity to protect, control, and monetize their work.

**This event will take place on a virtual conference platform called Remo. You will find instructions for how to access the event once you register and in event email reminders. You may wish to test your gear per the instructions BEFORE the event so you don’t have issues during.

This event is for artist managers, self-managed artists, and industry professionals who are looking to grow their networks and to learn more about AI. Registration is free and non-members are welcome.

SPEAKERS:

Tamay Aykut - Founder & CEO Sureel AI

Tamay earned his PhD with distinction in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the TU Munich in 2019, receiving the Nokia Bell Lab’s Best Student Award and the Kurt-Fischer Doctorate Award. Selected for Stanford's Junior Research Group Program, he became the youngest visiting assistant professor since the program's launch and led the Visual Computing and AI group at the Max-Planck Center. His AI work includes peer-reviewed publications and multiple AI patents. As CTO at CareX.ai and Snowcrash, he built and led teams developing advanced AI platforms. He also served on the AI Subcommittee at Harvard’s Wyss Institute. In 2022, he founded Sureel.ai, pioneering explainable AI with patented attribution technology.

Aileen Crowley - Co-President Sureel AI, Partner Lark42

Aileen Crowley is a data driven innovator with expertise in streaming and digital strategy, with a record of success in new entertainment models. She was on the ground floor of building a new model record label, DigSin, then the first playlist promotion company in the industry, and then the first global streaming team within Universal Music Group. Aileen was the VP of Global Streaming Marketing at UMG, creating and implementing global streaming innovations. Aileen’s breadth of experience from artist management to music startup to major label, positions her in a unique way to help artists and the industry adopt new ideas and continuously innovate in an ever evolving business. Aileen has been recognized on the Billboard 40 under 40 list. And has spoken on industry panels internationally.

Benji Rogers - Co-President Sureel AI, Partner Lark42

Benji Rogers is a British-born, New York-based entrepreneur technologist who co-founded multiple companies, including Verifi.Media, Lark42, Radiary Creations & PledgeMusic, the first direct-to-fan music platform to acquire 4.5mm users and 50k artists as its then CEO. PledgeMusic was listed in Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list in 2015.

Straddling the worlds of technology and music, Rogers sits on the board of and advises a range of tech and music companies on bridging the divide between their industries. Benji has been recognized on the Billboard 40 Under 40 list and Awarded Digital Executive of the Year. He recently joined Sureel AI as co-president.

Apply now to be part of our next MMF Canada Export Mission in Germany from Sep 16 to 21, 2024!

This opportunity is for managers and self-managed artists and will feature B2B meeting sessions and networking mixers in Hamburg during the Reeperbahn Festival.

Mission delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in business events at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin on Sep 16, 2024 and Reeperbahn’s Berlin Experience, a day of round tables, networking, and office visits on Sep 17, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • You must be a registered business (i.e. have a provincial or federal Business Number or Corporation Number)

  • Applicants must be Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and you must be working for a Canadian company, or for yourself.

  • You MUST take part in the B2B meetings in Hamburg during the Reeperbahn Festival. You are encouraged to take part in the business activities in Berlin on Sep 16 and 17, 2024.

  • You MUST be a registered delegate for the Reeperbahn Festival.
