DESCRIPTION
MMF Canada is proud to host a panel discussion on one of the hottest topics of 2021 - NFTs.
The art world has been transformed by blockchain technology and the sales of NFTs, aka Non-Fungible Tokens. Some artistic communities have celebrated the skyrocketing sales of these digital items as a welcome industry disruptor; others have criticized this new market, and dismiss it as a bubble that is bound to burst. We want to know - what the heck are NFTs, and what could they mean for artists and the music industry as a whole?
In order to provide a wide perspective on this topic, we have curated a panel of speakers with different areas of expertise and specialization. This panel discussion will endeavour to answer some of the following questions:
What are NFTs exactly, and how does this technology apply to artists that are releasing music?
What are the copyright issues pertaining to this technology, and what are some of the IP (intellectual property) considerations?
What does an NFT sale agreement even look like, and what are some issues that artist managers and self-managed artists should be on the lookout for?
PANELISTS:
Angelika Heim - Partner, Stohn Hay Cafazzo Dembroski Richmond LLP
Grant Dexter - Founder, Fanaply
Sarah Osgoode - Director of Artist Management, eOne Music
